Rumor Roundup: What to Expect from Apple’s Upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Series
The upcoming Apple iPhone 15 Pro series is highly anticipated, and there have been numerous rumors and leaks about the device. From CADs to leaked photos, the features of the upcoming iPhones have been gradually revealed. Leaks suggest that the iPhone 15 Pro series will feature a USB-C port, titanium design, and solid-state buttons.
The leaked image of the base iPhone 15 model shows the presence of a USB-C port instead of the usual Lightning port. This follows a recent EU mandate that requires the use of a USB-C port on consumer electronics, including smartphones.[0] It is possible that the iPhone 15 will only be compatible with USB-C cables supplied by Apple or those carrying its M-Fi certification.[0]
The images also reveal the Dynamic Island cutout that will be present on all models of the iPhone 15.[1] This will allow users to ditch the notch that was present on the iPhone 14 series. The Dynamic Island will house the front-facing camera, speaker, and other sensors.
The iPhone 15 Pro series is expected to feature a titanium frame, making it lighter and stronger than stainless steel.[2] Combined with the thinner bezels and curved edges, the device is likely to have a more modern look.[3] The rear camera bump will also be thicker, indicating that Apple may have upgraded the camera system with new sensors or lenses.[4]
Besides the USB-C port, the iPhone 15 will likely have the A17 Bionic chip, Wi-Fi 6E, and solid-state buttons. The A17 is expected to be exclusive to the Pro models, while the regular iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will have the A16 Bionic chip.
Apple is expected to reveal the iPhone 15 series in September 2023. Until then, more rumors and leaks are likely to emerge.[5]
