Why the Eagles Never Used the Fletcher Cox QB Sneak

At the 2022 NFL Combine, Nick Sirianni, the Philadelphia Eagles' head coach, hinted at a version of the quarterback sneak that included Fletcher Cox. Despite being on their minds throughout the regular season, the Eagles never ran the play and didn't make it a priority in the playoffs.

According to Sirianni, Cox would always make sure the play was in the game plan each week.[0] In the Super Bowl, Sirianni admitted he lied to Cox about the play being in, joking, “Yeah, it’s in. It’s in. We’re good.”[0]

The Eagles were great at the quarterback sneak last season, and even more proud of the wrinkles they ran off of it.[0] With Cox now back for the 2023 season, there is still a chance we could see this version of the sneak.[0]

Sirianni's comments explain why the Eagles never used the Fletcher Cox sneak, which was originally reported by NBC Sports Philadelphia.[1]
