Unlocking the Possibilities of Microsoft’s Copilot: AI-Powered Productivity Boosters for the Masses
Microsoft has recently unveiled Microsoft 365 Copilot, a groundbreaking AI-powered tool designed to enhance productivity and creativity in the workplace. OpenAI's ChatGPT technology, based on natural language processing, is combined with Microsoft Office tools and capabilities to provide an AI assistant which can help workers automate or speed up certain tedious tasks.[0] Copilot is currently debuting with 20 enterprise customers, with the expectation of testing and tweaking the software for a wider user base in the coming months.[0]
Microsoft unveiled Business Chat, leveraging Microsoft Graph and AI to extract information from emails, documents, presentations, notes, calendars, and other sources.[1] This tool can pull information from different sources to help summarize chats, write emails, find key dates, or even write a plan based on other project files.[2]
Copilot is embedded in Microsoft 365 apps, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. It handles different tasks depending on the app you’re using, and you decide what to keep, modify or discard.[3] Copilot can generate a first draft of a document based on your suggestions, create presentations based on prompts, summarize long email threads, and create calendar invites.[4] It can even accept images as well as text as input, making it a powerful and versatile tool.[1]
Microsoft's Copilot is an example of the potential of generative AI.[5] OpenAI recently unveiled its GPT-4 software, which is capable of performing more advanced tasks like doing taxes or passing the bar exam.[6] Microsoft's integration of ChatGPT into its Power Platform for low-code application development is a move to make this technology more accessible and mainstream.[7] Google has also made similar integrations into its Workspace suite of apps, including Gmail and Google Docs.[8]
