ChatGPT Now Available on Apple Watch and iPhone
Apple users can now access ChatGPT on their Apple Watch with the world’s first ChatGPT-empowered watch face. Developed by US-based wearable company Amazfit, the watch face has been coded using the AI tool to provide users with a new level of human-AI interaction.[0]
OpenAI has developed an AI model called ChatGPT which utilizes natural language processing to generate human-like responses to text-based inputs.[1] It has been trained on a sizable dataset of various text sources and is one of the most sophisticated language models available.[2]
The integration of ChatGPT into the Amazfit watch face allows for the latter to show users their health and fitness data as well as answers to their queries.[0] The watch face is powered by the Zepp OS, which is self-developed by Amazfit.[3]
To make it even easier to access ChatGPT, the developer Jordi Bruin has created MacGPT, a native app for macOS that allows users to access the chatbot from the menu bar. MacGPT loads the ChatGPT interface in a web browser and makes it quick and easy to start conversations with the AI tool.
Similarly, a Siri shortcut for ChatGPT on iPhone is available to download.[4] To use the shortcut, one must have an OpenAI account and an API key.[5] The shortcut allows users to quickly access ChatGPT and get answers to their questions.[6]
The developer Hidde van der Ploeg has also released the watchGPT app on the App Store.[7] It requires devices running iOS 13.0 or later and the download size is 2.6MB.[8] Users of the app are able to communicate with ChatGPT and share their replies through SMS, email, and social media, all directly from their smartwatch display.
Apple has also made great strides in the development of blood glucose monitoring technology for the upcoming Apple Watch models.[9] This system employs silicon photonics, a specialized chip, and optical absorption spectroscopy to emit light at designated wavelengths.[10] This technique accurately identifies a person's blood sugar levels and eliminates the need for a syringe to obtain a blood sample.[9]
All in all, the availability of ChatGPT on Apple products is ushering in a new era of human-AI interaction and allowing users to access the powerful AI tool from the comfort of their watch or phone.
