Get Ready for the Google Pixel 7a: Coming to Google I/O 10 May 2023

Google Pixel 7a is expected to be unveiled at this year’s Google I/O event in May, and thanks to a recent leak, we now have a better idea of what to expect from this mid-range offering. The Pixel 6a was announced back in May last year, so it is highly likely that the 7a will also release in the same time frame this year.[0]

The leaked information suggests that the Pixel 7a will feature a 6.1-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate.[1] This is an upgrade over the Pixel 6a's 60 Hz refresh rate. Renders have also indicated that the phone will have a centrally-aligned hole-punch cutout to house the front-facing camera.[1]

In terms of hardware, the Pixel 7a is expected to be powered by Google’s latest Tensor G2 processor and will be paired with at least 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.[1] The back camera setup will reportedly include a 64MP Sony IMX787 main camera and a 12MP ultrawide one, which is a significant upgrade over the Pixel 6a's 12.2MP unit.[2]

The device is also said to support basic 5W wireless charging, something that the Pixel 6a lacked.[2] Furthermore, the Pixel 7a is expected to come with almost all the software capabilities of a high-end Pixel smartphone.

The Pixel 7a is likely to be a great all-rounder device, and if Google prices it accordingly, it could be a proper flagship killer of 2023. However, it is important to take the leaked information with a grain of salt.

The Google Pixel 7a is expected to be officially unveiled at Google I/O on 10 May 2023. Until then, the Pixel 6a is a great choice for those who want flagship power and camera performance at a mid-range price.[3]
