Get Ready for the Pixel Fold & Pixel 7a: Google’s Latest Developments at I/O 2021
Google is gearing up to launch its first foldable phone and a mid-range addition to the Pixel 7 series. The Pixel Fold and Pixel 7a will be unveiled at the upcoming Google I/O event on May 10, where the company is expected to showcase its latest developments for Android 14. Ahead of I/O, several images and details about both devices have been revealed.[0]
The Pixel 7a is the successor to the Pixel 6a and features a similar design. It has a 6.1-inch display with a metal frame and two glass sides.[1] The most striking feature of the Pixel 7a is the “Camera Bar” strip on the back, which has a metal protective layer for the camera and a matte finish.[2] It has two 12MP cameras, one standard and one super wide angle. The device also features a speaker strip and a USB-C charging port on the bottom edge, but no 3.5mm audio jack.[2]
The Pixel Fold is Google’s first foldable phone.[3] It has a 5.79-inch outer cover display and a 7.69-inch inner display when unfolded.[4] It could cost as much as €1700 ($1,825) in the European Union and be available in two colors – Carbon (black or grey) and Porcelain (white).[5] Official cases will also be available in Haze Midtone, Porcelain, and Sky color options.
The Pixel 7a could cost around 500 euros (Approx. $540) for the 128GB storage model and be available in Arctic Blue, Carbon, and Cotton. It will likely be priced at around the same $449 as the Pixel 6a, which has seen multiple discounts since it launched.[6]
