Fix Google Maps Issues with Android Auto

Have you been having issues with Google Maps while using Android Auto on your vehicle infotainment system? If so, you are not alone. It has recently been reported that using both Android Auto and Google Maps together has been causing incorrect or false GPS locations, making navigating unfamiliar areas a difficult task.

Fortunately, there is a way to work around this issue until a proper fix can be released in an OTA update. It appears that the problem lies with Android Auto treating Google Maps as a background app, hence the false routes and GPS locations. Fortunately, users can disable their car’s GPS capabilities to allow them to run Maps through their device’s GPS alone.

To do this, users should open their app drawer and long press on the Google Maps icon, then select the app info option located at the top right-hand side of the pop-up window that appears.[0] This will redirect them to the app’s settings where they can disable their car’s GPS capabilities.

If you have been experiencing issues with Android Auto and Google Maps, this fix should help you get back on track. Keep in mind that this is only a workaround and a proper fix is still in the works. Nevertheless, if you want to access Google Maps while using Android Auto, this is the best way to do it until the issue is properly addressed.[1]
