Google Announces First Foldable Pixel Phone, Set to Compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold Series
Google has officially announced its first foldable Pixel phone, the Pixel Fold, which is set to compete directly with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold series.[0] The Pixel Fold is expected to be unveiled at Google I/O 2023 on May 10th, and according to leaks and rumors, it may outperform the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 in certain ways. While the Pixel Fold may have a smaller cover display compared to the Z Fold 5, it is rumored to have a wider aspect ratio, making it easier to use when folded.
One potential drawback of the Pixel Fold is its reported price tag of $1,800-$1,920 for the 256GB and 512GB models, respectively, which some critics believe is too high for a first-generation foldable.[1] However, pre-orders may come with some freebies, and the device is expected to be packed with Google's Tensor G2 processor, which is more power-efficient than its predecessor.[2]
In addition to the Pixel Fold, Google is rumored to be announcing the Pixel 7a and the Pixel Tablet at Google I/O 2023, making it a bumper year for the company's hardware department.
