Introducing Microsoft 365 Copilot: AI-Powered Assistant for Increased Creativity and Productivity

Microsoft has released Microsoft 365 Copilot, a new AI-powered assistant designed to help users generate documents, emails, presentations, and more. Powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4, Copilot is currently being tested with select commercial customers and combines the power of large language models with business data and Microsoft 365 apps to increase creativity, productivity and skills.[0]

Copilot will be available in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams and will be able to create presentations with a mouse click, allowing users to import contents from other documents and employ natural language commands to describe the ideas that must be included on each slide.[1] In Outlook, Copilot will summarize long email threads and pull out pertinent information while offering suggested replies.[2]

In PowerPoint, Copilot can transform existing written documents into decks complete with speaker notes and sources or start a new presentation from a simple prompt or outline.[3] Streamline long presentations with a single click and use conversational commands to modify layouts, change text, and coordinate animations perfectly.[4]

In Excel, Copilot can analyze the data and give summaries on key trends and create additional graphs outlining various business scenarios. Copilot is able to identify various trends from your data and display them graphically.

Microsoft’s Copilot system combines Microsoft 365 apps, a large language model, and Microsoft Graph, which together analyze your files and data to learn how to help you best. Microsoft will share more information on pricing and licensing soon, and the feature may be a paid add-on in addition to the cost of a Microsoft 365 subscription.[5]
