The Super Mario Bros. Movie: Tickets Now On Sale!
The Super Mario Brothers Movie, the long-awaited adaptation of the iconic game franchise, is finally hitting theaters on April 5th, 2023.[0] The film is being co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo, and is being produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri p.g.a. and Nintendo’s Representative Director and Fellow Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario.[1] Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, both of whom have collaborated on Teen Titans Go! and Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, direct the film. The screenplay was written by Matthew Fogel, known for his work on Minions: The Rise of Gru and The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.[2]
The film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.[3]
In the movie, Mario and Luigi are Brooklyn plumbers transported down a mysterious pipe into a magical new world.[4] When the brothers are separated, Mario embarks on an epic quest to find Luigi, with the assistance of a Mushroom Kingdom resident Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) and some training from the strong-willed ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy).[5] As Mario taps into his own power, he races down the Rainbow Road with Donkey Kong in a thrilling sequence.[6]
To mark the release of the movie, Red Wing Shoes have created a one-of-a-kind prototype of Mario boots, which are on display at Nintendo’s New York store through April.[7] These “durable, natural leather and slip-resistant treads” feature a design based on every pixel from the movie.
Tickets to The Super Mario Brothers Movie are now on sale, and fans can purchase them through Fandango. Fandango is offering a buy one ticket, get one free deal, with the promo code MARIOLUIGI or BOWSER.[8]
AMC theatres are also giving away a double-sided Super Mario Bros Movie poster with advance bookings to the movie.[0] The offer is only available for those who visit an AMC theatre on March 10, 2023, also known as Mario Day, and is only available in the United States.[0]
