Samsung Galaxy S23 Series: Performance, Camera and Battery Life Review

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series is the latest flagship smartphone from the South Korean tech giant, and it has been received with mostly positive reviews.[0] However, several Galaxy S23 owners have been facing an annoying camera blur issue.[1] Thankfully, Samsung is aware of the issue and plans to roll out an update at the end of March that should fix the problem.

The Galaxy S23 series is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and 8GB of RAM, which makes it one of the fastest smartphones on the market.[2] The phones also come with a slightly bigger battery compared to its predecessor, which is able to squeeze out a day's worth of battery life for moderate users.[3] Heavy users might need to charge the phone once per day, but if you take a few precautions like making sure you're fully charged before unplugging, you can get away with two days of battery life.[3]

The Galaxy S23 series phones have a 6.1-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels and a maximum brightness of 1750 nits. The adaptive brightness feature works very well, so you should leave it on and let the phone tweak the brightness based on your surroundings.[3] The Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X touch matrix with a resolution of 3088×1440 pixels and a maximum brightness of 1750 nits. The adaptive brightness feature works well on this model as well.[4]

The Galaxy S23 Plus comes with an impressive camera setup.[5] It has a 10MP telephoto, 1/3.52″, f/2.4, PDAF, optical stabilization, 3x zoom; a 10 MP periscopic telephoto, 1/3.52″, f/4.9, PDAF, optical stabilization, 10x zoom; and a 50 MP, f/1.8, 24mm (wide), 1/1.56″, 1.0µm, Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS.[6] Images captured with the S23 Plus are luminous, boasting vibrant colors and increased contrast.[7]

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has the capability to capture videos in a maximum resolution of 8K at 30 frames per second[8] To make the most of its video recording prowess, you must record videos with HDR10+ enabled.[9]
